Reconstruction Aids are Medical Models of scan data-derived anatomy, which has been modified in the virtual computer-aided-design environment before fabrication (e.g. mirroring healthy anatomy or recontouring defects). They are used to: save time in hospital laboratories and theatres by eliminating time-consuming carved reconstructions; reduce model costs by reducing bilateral models; improve the accuracy of laboratory-shaped stock or custom-pressed implants by using digital measurements; and reduce the likelihood of revision surgeries by improving predictability.
We use CE-marked scan-data processing software – validated for clinical use, to establish the initial virtual models. Then, all modifications to this data are explicitly agreed with you before fabrication.  Models are built using Additive Manufacturing (or “3D Printing”) technologies.
We can receive DICOM data by post, and now digitally via the secure Image Exchange Portal (IEP). See our New Product Request & Customer Setup form below for details on how to setup a secure digital link between your PACS system and PDR.

We can cater to any specific, unique request; though our most common applications are for cranioplasty defect recontouring and orbital floor / medial wall reconstructions. The resulting models are used in laboratories as press tools to form titanium sheet to make conventional implants. To make an enquiry, please follow the simple steps outlined below.

Upon receipt of the data and requisition form details, PDR will prepare a quotation and design proposal which will be sent to the provided email address or fax number. If we need to clarify your desired model extents, model type, or modifications, you will receive an email and images to review first.
Prices are entirely dependent on the size and nature of each individual case.
Modifications or reconstructions incur a small extra charge – varying depending on complexity.
At this stage, the designs for your device(s) should be thoroughly reviewed by the prescribing / operating surgeon and either approved, or a request for revisions made to PDR.
After building and post-processing, your model will be dispatched by TNT, DHL, or Royal Mail for domestic locations (DHL only for international addresses). The package will include the model, patient data (if sent via CD-ROM), materials data-sheet, model extents printout and a delivery note.
